4/26 1:13 AM - Sunday - Gracie...
Gracie crossed the Rainbow Bridge early this morning. (For Gracie's complete story, please see http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/emergency-chip-help-t7323586.html ) I find it hard to stop my tears from flowing as I think about what could have been for this beautiful dog. Gracie valiantly fought for almost a week against pneumonia, parvo, and numerous intestinal parasites. It is truly amazing that she had the strength to fight for so many days. Sadly, Gracie's body couldn't fight any longer. Gracefully, her spirit and soul live on. Run free beautiful, sweet Gracie. We will miss you...
Jenn.
Grace was rescued from a Georgia shelter but she is VERY sick. The vet is trying to do everything to help her. Please help if you can! Her vet bill are already estimated to be at least $1,000.

You can also send donations directly to the vet taking care of Gracie.
North Dekalb Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Max Katz is Gracie's vet. They have a fund set up for Gracie so please specify that your check is a donation for her.
4/25 UPDATE: Good morning all. I heard from the vet early this morning that Grace got up and walked around in her cage last night! Unfortunately, she is still throwing up and can't keep anything down. Her WBC count is also back down in the 600s. That's not great news.
Dr. Katz felt that it was in Gracie's best interest to keep her at his clinic. He decided that he didn't want to move Gracie. He felt that it would be too much for her. So, although they are closed over the weekend, one of the vet techs has volunteered to take care of Gracie. I feel that Gracie is so blessed to be in this vet's care.
Whenever I get updates I will post as quickly as I can. This one is from my bb so I don't know how it will turn out.
Please consider that Gracie is not with a rescue group. Nell and I are paying Gracie's vet bills ourselves. They are already topping $1200 and climbing daily. We just don't know when (notice I didn't say "if") she will be able to come home.
SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make a donation. We have received large donation and small donations. Every dollar helps.
Other ways you can help:
You can crosspost for Gracie. If you need help with doing this , send me a PM.
You can tell your family, friends, and neighbors about Gracie and ask them to help.
My kids are going to do a fundraiser at their school. They are 5, 7, and 8 and came up with this on their own.
Most importantly, please pray for Gracie.
Thank you all so much for all of your kind words and support.
Wishing you Grace,
Jenn.
4/21 - Tuesday AM - Sweet Gracie is Sick
Gracie is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. She's between 8 and 10 months old and a whopping 50 pounds with huge paws to grow into. Unfortunately, she is quite sick right now. She has an upper respiratory infection which I'm hoping is not turning into pneumonia. She has thick green mucous coming out of her nose, and her lungs definitely sound junky. She's running a very high fever of 105.5 and this is with Metacam in her system. Thankfully, she's still drinking and peeing. I am on our way to the vet's office and will update later.
4/21 - Tuesday PM - Gracie has PNEUMONIA!!!
Sweet Gracie is very sick. But, she is in great hands right now and will stay at the vet's office for the next several days. X-Ray has confirmed what the vet thought - Gracie has pneumonia. She also has round worms, hook worms and tape worms. Additionally, she has elevated white cells - and a low red count. She's running a 105.5 temp with Metacam dosed at 10:30 last night. She's extremely anemic too. Thankfully, she's HW neg.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help me and Nell pay Gracie's vet bills! Once again - here's the link to the chipin.
4/22 - Wednesday AM - Gracie has PARVO!!!
Please make a contribution to help Gracie. Our vet bill is well over $700 now. Gracie is literally fighting for her life. She has the usual parasites, as well as a horrible case of pneumonia and to top it off PARVO! I nearly cried this morning when I heard that she threw up her b'fast. Several hours later I got the report that Gracie had bloody diarrhea. Within minutes, I got the call that she had the dreaded Parvo...
4/22 - Wednesdy PM - Gracie is fighting for her life
I spoke to the vet about an hour ago. He said Gracie is still very puny. She's having a rough time of things with three major things going on at once. Gracie has a bad case of parvo and it's hard for her to fight it with pneumonia and parasites too. Her immune system has taken a real beating. The vet is hoping he doesn't get called to come in during the night. He's not not being overly optimistic that she will pull through this / but not pessimistic either. Every night that she makes it brings her closer to getting better....
I pray that she makes it through the night...
Gracie is a dog worth fighting for. Please help us help her.
so sorry she didn't make it ~ play free, happy and healthy at the bridge now little girl
