ALR Dogs in Need of Sponsorship
With the downturn in the economy it is becoming more and more prevalent that pet owners are cutting back on vet care and monthly preventatives for their pets. Unfortunately, cutting out a monthly heartworm preventive can be a death sentence for a pet.
We are finding that many of the dogs that we rescue are testing positive for heartworms. Imagine these sweet souls having just received an 11th hour reprieve from abandonment, abuse, starvation or scheduled euthanasia at a shelter only to face a diagnoses of a disease that is fatal if left untreated.
Atlanta Lab Rescue has 14 dogs in our program that are heartworm positive:
Bud, Bacall, Captain, Crunch, Hawk, Jakester, Kipling, Marley, Maui Jim, Paige, Sidney,Topher, Sweet Pea & Yam
Treatment will cost approximately $800 for each dog. With annual giving at a decrease and the increase in dogs in need of medical care continuing to rise we simply do not have the funds to treat all of them.
We are desperate need of sponsorships for these dogs so that we can ensure that they are made well and healthy for adoption.
If you would like more information on sponsoring a dog please contact Becky Cross at info@atlantalabrescue.com or visit our online Donor page at
http://www.labrescueofatlanta.com/donate.htm. No matter the size of the contribution, big or small, every little bit helps!
